Our Process
Four decades of experience have taught us a thing or two about creating curriculum that works. Here’s how we do it.
Introduce your Kindergarten-4th grade student to world geography and culture through delightful children’s picture books in this engaging curriculum. Designed to foster curiosity and connection, this homeschool geography course explores Asia, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica through award-winning literature, art, music, poetry, history, and nature study.
Children journey through countries like China, Japan, Thailand, India, Morocco, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, and Ghana, discovering unique cultures, traditions, and landscapes. Each unit includes folktales, fables, wildlife, maps and flags to color or cut out, and gentle Socratic questions to spark meaningful discussion and critical thinking.
Beautiful animal illustrations help students learn about indigenous species and habitats while cultivating a love for the natural world. Culinary activities introduce global flavors with recipes, photos, and links that bring each country’s cuisine to life, perfect for memorable, hands-on learning.
Each chapter includes Library Connections and History and Biography suggestions, allowing parents to expand or adapt the curriculum. Whether used as a core homeschool curriculum or a cultural supplement, this product brings the world into your home, one story, dish, and discovery at a time.
Perfect for families of kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade children seeking a flexible, story-rich homeschool resource that builds global awareness through engaging learning, the lessons in this study are flexible, allowing families to tailor activities and pace to meet the needs of their students.

It provides the basic framework, library connections, biography/history suggestions, etc. But let's you lead! Plan on expanding on what you learn by using the MAP book and letting your kids pick things to learn more about. We use YouTube to see the scenery, learn more about "The Great Wall of China" etc., etc., and then to save money, we google the connection books for read-alouds over YouTube and purchase our favorites. It will require a little extra planning. Not quite open and go, but it is so fun! Currently a mom to 4, and also a sophomore in a K-6 elementary education degree program as my background. - The only thing so far I will mention is in the maps book there is one inappropriate (and small) image from the "love sauna". Honestly, this is something you could just white out, and it is cartoon, but I plan to cover it up. Plenty of people may not have noticed it. Still worth buying, but felt it necessary to mention it as a content caution. There are TONS of tiny images throughout the MAPS book, so again, this is very minute. But just in case you also feel the need to cover that image up. Enjoy the adventure!
This course is not complete and does not teach enough culture geography or much of anything about the different locations they are very surface level if that some of the books have no obvious connection to culture at least not for a young child to understand with out a deep explanation from an adult…. You would need to check out or buy every extra book for this curriculum to be even considered comprehensive….. for nearly $300 it’s not worth the cost and I will be going else where for history and geography
I loved this guide over the American History which is very CRT based. Access to a good library is a must to really flesh out this curriculum. Although many are available to listen to on YT. The lessons are memorable enough that my 3/4 grader was able to retain high level history info like the Salt protest by Ghandi. There are a few books I had to edit because it lumps all "white" people together vs just one country. So there are tiny race references but properly done unlike the American History. I'd recommend this guide to others.
I was disappointed in this curriculum set compared to the last set I bought-Early American History. I thought this curriculum set was not as literature rich as I had hoped. Many of the lessons require watching videos or documentaries. That is not really the type of lesson I am looking for when purchasing an expensive Charlotte Mason inspired curriculum. There were also many books that were listed in the lesson plans that were not included in the pack I purchased. When I paid for an expensive curriculum, I did not think I would have to supplement it by purchasing the books to go along with the lessons or by making trips to the public library to see if the book is available there. Overall the curriculum has helped me expose my children to cultures and countries I otherwise may not have have exposed them to but I’ll pass on buying Around the World set 2.
We loved using this curriculum. We didn’t follow unit exactly as written, but took full advantage of all the rabbit holes it opened for my kids. It was the highlight of our year as we visited places through books, art, documentaries, and food! Highly recommend this as a gentle and family friendly curriculum for your kids!
