  A Time of Wonder

1958 Caldecott Medal Winner

The spell of rain, gulls, a foggy morning, the excitement of sailing, the quiet of the night, the sudden terror of a hurricane, and the peace of a Maine island as a family packs up to leave are shown in poetic language and vibrant, evocative pictures. This story will inspire wonder at God's creation. Gorgeous paintings accompany McCloskey's beautiful lyrical text telling of a wonderful summer spent on the Maine coast. Beloved by many, this book has rightly earned its place among the classics.
