Books by other Newbery Award-winning authors are also used, including James Daugherty, Esther Forbes and Jean Lee Latham. This comprehensive study, beginning in the 15th century and stretching to the U.S. Civil War, will be a memorable and insightful experience. As with our other advanced guides, teacher notes are included as well as vocabulary lists, comprehension questions and answer key, report topics, and much more. Designed as a one-year course when 2-3 lessons are completed each week. Contains 91 lessons.

About the Authors:
Rea is a homeschooling mother of six whose determination to teach history using quality literature rather than
standard textbooks inspired her to research what was available to accomplish that purpose. The result has been a series of History Through Literature study guides all designed to acquaint the reader with the best children's literature available on the subject. Rea holds a Masters Degree in Children's Literature from The Center for the Study of Children's Literature, Simmons College in Boston.

Rebecca B. Manor, a homeschool grad, studied English Literature at Hillsdale College and British Literature at Oxford University. She wrote her first study guide, A History of Science, at age seventeen. This guide, winner of the Cathy Duffy "Top Picks for Home School" award was followed by five other study guides. Rebecca currently lives in Edinburgh, Scotland with her husband.
