The classic Shakespeare plays on dueling brothers who both served as kings. Although related by blood, these two brothers differences guided the course of English history. As the signer of the Magna Carta, King John unwittingly, and unwillingly, aided in the establishment of the democratic freedom that we are priviledged to live under. King Henry the Lionheart was loved by his people although he was also a weak ruler, spending more time fighting in the Crusades than ruling his kingdom. Both plays are wonderful studies of human nature and the high price of selfishness.
